Care for the Blackburn Creeklands park can be viewed from two perspectives – the “Big Picture” and the “small picture” :
- The City of Whitehorse Master Plan, released in 2002, is used by the Council and the Advisory Committee as guidance in managing the “Big Picture” aspects of the park.
- For park maintenance purposes, we’ve broken down the park into a series of Maintenance Areas called blocks based on the type of vegetation present, prior maintenance history and maintenance responsibilities (eg external contractors). These enable us to record the historical of maintenance activities undertaken (eg plantings, weeding) and plan future maintenance goals and activities at a reasonably fine level of detail.
- Nevertheless, there are many useful things park users and neighbours can do to also care for the park and to report problems for action.
