Planting Bee – Sunday, 21st August at the Main Street Bridge

The last stage of the Main Street Bridge Maintenance project is to plant around the new handrails including their side “flairs” and approaches to soften them and integrate them into the park.

Time: 09:00 – midday.  Morning tea provided at about 10:30.  Please join us for a cuppa anyway if you are unable to work with us on the day.  If you can’t make it either way, our final (so far…) working bee planned for this year will be Sunday, 4th September – a special Father’s Day treat!

Location: All four ends of the bridge railings on the Main Street road bridge.

Planned activities:  Work will consist mostly of planting out with some weeding if time allows.

Clothing:  We recommend sensible clothes for both the weather and the work – long sleeved shirts, long trousers, gloves, hats and work boots.  You might also like to consider kneelers or knee pads.

Training/knowledge:  None needed – experienced volunteers will be available to help in planting techniques and weed identification.

Tools:  Tools are provided but you are welcome to bring your own to make ours go further or to suit your working preferences.  Useful tools are hoes, weeders like “daisy diggers”, weed bins/buckets and garden gloves.

Refreshments:   Although we provide both tea and coffee (and a bikkie if you work hard), you’ll need to bring your own drinking water or energy drink.

Car parking:   Parking along Heath Street will be quite convenient.
