Our first working bee for the year is this coming Saturday (14th May, 2016) morning at the end of Furness Street starting at 9AM. We’ll mostly be planting.
Time: 09:00 – midday.
Location: Enter the park at the end of Furness Street (see below).
Planned activities: Work will consist mostly of planting out.
Clothing: We recommend sensible clothes for both the weather and the work – long sleeved shirts, long trousers, gloves, hats and work boots. You might also like to consider kneelers or knee pads.
Training/knowledge: None needed – experienced volunteers will be available to help in planting techniques and weed identification.
Tools: Tools are provided but you are welcome to bring your own to make ours go further or to suit your working preferences. Useful tools are hoes, weeders like “daisy diggers”, weed bins/buckets and garden gloves.
Refreshments: Although we provide both tea and coffee (and a bikkie if you work hard), you’ll need to bring your own drinking water or energy drink.
Car parking: There is limited parking available in Furness Street. Heath and Gardenia Streets are other options provided you are not carrying too much.
