Our July community working bee is planned for Sunday, July 26th 09:00-12:00 in Kalang Park. The work will count towards our Communities for Nature grant project for restoration of our corridors.
We look forward to working with you – or sharing a cuppa with you at morning tea.
Time: 09:00 – midday. Morning tea: about 10:30.
Location: We will return to the “Southern Corridor” – on the south side of the creek, along the main track adjacent to the Kalang Park oval – between The Billabong and the car park next to the Bowls Club.
Planned activities: Work will consist mostly of planting out – possibly, along with some light weeding and rubbish collection. Note that there will also be a Joeys group (with parents) undertaking a working bee in Kalang Park near the cricket nets at the same time. This will be quite close to our Southern Corridor working bee – so we will be able to share some resources between the groups.
Clothing: We recommend sensible clothes for both the weather and the work – long sleeved shirts, long trousers, gloves, hats and work boots. You might also like to consider kneelers or knee pads.
Training/knowledge: None needed – experienced volunteers will be available to help in planting techniques and weed identification.
Tools: Tools are provided but you are welcome to bring your own to make ours go further or to suit your working preferences. Useful tools are hoes, trowels, daisy diggers, weed bins/buckets and garden gloves.
Parking: Best parking will be in the car parks adjacent to the Bowls Club or to the Laburnum Primary School. There is no parking adjacent to the Kalang oval pavilion due to the ongoing construction work there.
