Working Bee – Sunday, May 31st 2015

Our second working bee for 2015 is planned for Sunday, May 31st 09:00-12:00 in Kalang Park.  The work will count towards our Communities for Nature grant project for restoration of our corridors.

We look forward to working with you – or sharing a cuppa with you at morning tea.

Time: 09:00 – midday.  Morning tea: about 10:30.

Location:  The “Southern Corridor” – on the south side of the creek along the main track adjacent to the Kalang Park oval.

Planned activities:  Work will consist mostly of planting out of grasses etc – possibly along with some light weeding and rubbish collection.

Clothing:  We recommend sensible clothes for both the weather and the work – long sleeved shirts, long trousers, gloves, hats and work boots.  You might also like to consider kneelers or knee pads.

Training/knowledge:  None needed – experienced volunteers will be available to help in planting techniques and weed identification.

Tools:  Tools are provided but you are welcome to bring your own to make ours go further or to suit your working preferences.  Useful tools are hoes, weed bins/buckets and garden gloves.

Parking:  Best parking will be in the car parks adjacent to the Bowls Club or to the Laburnum Primary School.

Please don’t plan on parking adjacent to the Kalang oval pavilion.  Work on demolition and redevelopment of the pavilion is imminent and temporary construction buildings have already taken over some of the scarce parking spaces there.
