Our October Community Working Bee, on Sunday, 19th October, 2014, was again in Furness Park, this time at the Blackburn Road end along Heath Street.
Weeding was the focus of the morning’s work. It was a good day and place for weeding – even though the weather was warming up, the area was shaded by the larger trees. The focussed activity facilitated conversation and it was pleasing to see many Friends and neighbours attending and/or stopping by for a chat.
The before and after shots below show just how overrun the area was with weed grass species – mainly Panic Veldt.
Looks like some in-fill planting will be needed next year!
If you missed the day, the final working bee for 2014 will be Sunday, November 9th 09:00-12:00 (near Pakenham Street along the northern park boundary, north of the frog bog – Kalang Park). The main activities will be weeding and (in a first for this year) mulching.
