The 2014 Spring Bird Survey of the Blackburn Creeklands was conducted on Saturday, October 18th, 2014.
As usual, our Group Leaders were Pat Bingham (from Birdlife Australia) and well known local nature photographer, Ian Moodie.
It was a beautiful sunny day making spotting the thirty species seen/heard relatively easy and plumage colours very obvious. A highlight was the very visible high level of successful breeding of indigenous birds in the park. Although these were the commonly seen birds such as the Ducks, Magpies and Noisy Miners, it seems the White-faced Heron seen flying overhead is nesting in nearby Linum Street – see photos below:
