Spring Bird Count to be 26th October, 2013

One for your diaries – the date for our next bird survey has been set for Saturday 26th October, 2013.  We will meet at the Scout Hall in Pakenham Street at 07:30, for an 8AM SHARP start – (you have to be up early to count the early birds!).

Many of you will already know that the Blackburn Creeklands is blessed with an amazing diversity of native birdlife – more than 90 species of residents and visitors have been identified.

In 2012, a program of Bird Counts started.   These surveys are conducted on a Saturday morning in Autumn and Spring and are led by experts.

If you’d like more information on birds in the park and/or the results from the three prior bird counts, please visit https://blackburncreeklands.wordpress.com/fauna-and-flora/.

The community is cordially invited to join in – no special expertise is required to participate and it is a great opportunity to learn more about our local environment.  You should wear sensible clothing/footwear and bring cameras and binoculars if you wish.  Also, please join us for a morning cuppa afterwards when the results are consolidated.
