The Annual General Meeting of the Blackburn Creeklands Advisory Committee was held on 24th July, 2012 at 7:30PM at the Blackburn Bowls Club (Pakenham Street, Blackburn). Our chairman reviewed the highlights of the past year and the Annual Report/Financial Statement for council were adopted. Committee office bearers for the coming year have been elected.
Our speaker, Megan Short, gave a stimulating and informative talk about her research into Blackburn’s invertebrates. These are perhaps a less fashionable segment of our native fauna – though we learned just how important the millipedes, ants, worms, scorpions, land hoppers and so forth are in the Blackburn Creeklands ecosystem. Megan also provided preserved examples for close examination by attendees during supper. Happily, none were confused with the delectable items provided by volunteers.
